First-time setup

Use this path for a new community or a server Nero has never managed.

  1. Create a workspaceOpen Nero onboarding, choose Discord, Telegram, or both, and complete the community profile.Open onboarding
  2. Add Nero to your platformInvite the bot and give it the requested channel, role, message, and command permissions.
  3. Connect the workspaceCopy the one-time setup code from onboarding and run it inside the Discord server.

  4. Confirm the structureNero creates the core community channels, roles, access gate, support spaces, and admin controls.
Use new mode only for a fresh server. For an established Discord with history, use adoption and migration below.

Adopt an existing Discord safely

Nero can organize an established server without deleting channel history, members, roles, or permission overrides.

1. Connect in adoption mode

This audits the server and maps what already exists.

2. Preview the migration

No Discord changes are made. Review every proposed move first.

3. Apply the saved plan

Only approve after the preview looks correct. The plan expires after 24 hours.

When should I use cleanup?

Only use cleanup to remove an old category generated by an earlier Nero adoption attempt. It does not remove channels outside that exact generated category.

Create a complete game hub

One command builds a role-gated game area. Existing matching channels are reused and missing spaces are added.

Run the command once per game. Members then run /games and select the games they want to see. Rerunning setup repairs missing parts without duplicating matching channels.

Troubleshooting

Resolve the common Discord setup failures without risking the server.

“This command is outdated”

Discord is still refreshing its global slash-command cache. Reopen Discord after a few minutes, or use Nero’s text fallback for game setup.

“Missing Access”

Nero cannot view or manage that private channel. Add the Nero role to the channel and allow View Channel, Manage Channel, and Read Message History. Keep Nero’s role above roles it must assign.

“The application did not respond”

Check Railway deploy logs and confirm the Discord bot is online. Do not repeatedly rerun migration apply until the previous deployment is active.

A migration preview looks wrong

Do not apply it. Existing-server migration requires explicit preview and apply steps so an admin can stop before changes are made.
